Thomas Kay, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who has been practicing for more than 20 years, taking care of newborns to centurions. He works with the team at Direct Primary Care New Braunfels in New Braunfels, Texas.
Since medical school, Dr. Kay's great love for medicine has always been caring for all ages, helping with acute illnesses (from common colds to severe problems), chronic health concerns, disease prevention, and, his favorite, wellness promotion.
Dr. Kay and his family spent time living on the mission field in Romania, Uganda, and Haiti. During this experience, he observed medicine being practiced in various ways, inspiring him to think outside the box.
Dr. Kay began considering what an ideal medical practice would look like, which is how he landed on direct primary care. A direct primary care model keeps patients from getting lost in the shuffle or given appointments months away.
In a world where many people don't have health insurance, and so few have anyone caring for their health, Dr. Kay's patients enjoy having direct access to their provider, being heard, and working together toward optimal health.
Dr. Kay and his wife live in the New Braunfels area. They have the three most amazing kids in the world and a wonderful daughter-in-law. The family is active in the foster community, their local church, and the lives of those they hold dear.
When not working, Dr. Kay enjoys walking his dogs, Agnes and Clarence, having tea with his wife at Landa Park, and playing board games with his kids.
