My nursing career started as a CNA on an orthopedic floor; I routinely got re-assigned to the ER and fell in love with it. I finished my RN and spent the next 8 years caring for people in the ER. My time in the ER has fueled my desire to focus on health and wellness; many of the illnesses people needed treatment for could have been prevented. In order to provide that to my patients, I went back to school to become an NP.
I enjoy primary care and specifically DPC because it aligns with what I strive to provide for my patients: an ability to provide close follow-up and establish positive relationships with my patients. Another perk is definitely the flexibility. I am always available - being able to answer calls & messages from soccer/baseball games, or wherever we are that week is invaluable.
I received my Associate's Degree in Nursing from the Baptist School of Health Professions in San Antonio in 2011 where I graduated with High Honors. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2012. In 2018, I graduated with Honors with my Master of Science in Nursing where specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner 2018, also from TTUHSC.
